Solved Slow broadband speed on initial boot up. Restart solves it,

Specs: Windows XP

having to re start PC to get correct broadband speed. I'm on cable and the ISP says it's my PC that is at fault. They remote checked the router & my PC settings to find everything as it should be.

Open the command prompt as Admin

type the following

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
restart your computer

Is just the internet slow or is the entire computer slow? You should have at least 1GB RAM for decent XP performance. Please post your complete specs. You should also try to run as lean as possible - that means you should keep your startup apps at a minimum & you should be running a lightweight anti-virus program (not McAfee, Norton, Trend Micro, etc). And you should practice routine maintenance by running a cleaner such as CCleaner-Slim regularly & defragging as needed.
