Hello:

I have a 4 year old assembled PC. The specs are as follow:
Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz, 3 GB Ram, 160 Hard Disk Drive

I had ATI Radeon 9200 series (128 mb). I upgraded it to ATI Radeon Powercolor X1650 Pro (512 mb). My internet connect is 3mbps. However I do not see any improvement in the performance of my video card. The online vides are still slow. How do I improve the performance of my video card? thanks for your advice.

Manish

Online videos are highly dependent upon the cpu, not the video card. A 2.4 GHz single core chip will struggle sometimes with certain online video. Some examples: netflix, hulu (480 should run fine in hulu), anything that is HD will stutter (depends on the codec used). Check your cpu usage in taskmanager while running online video. Chances are, your cpu will be near 100 percent everytime you play a video.

Going from a 9200 series to a 1650pro will improve performance in direct3d and opengl games, however. I saw a big improvement in games like doom3 and far cry going from a gf4 ti4200 to a 1650pro.

If you're a gamer, there will be a huge difference between a Radeon 9200 & Radeon X1650, but for the internet, just about any video card is sufficient. My guess is you have a different problem.

Hello:

How do I know what is the problem with my CPU? What do I need to check so that I can resolve this issue?
