hey i am building a new cpu and i asked on here earlier for the best quiet cpu i can get without loosing performance and i was told slk/700/800/or900 And i have been reading around on them and some of them say that its kind of tricky to install on amd motherboards. Well im no expert computer builder and would like to know which on of these are the easiest for mounting on an a7v8x motherboard. I dont want to put in any holes in my mobo or anything. Also what are all of the slk 800-a and -u's? Which one i MEANT for socket A AMD systems?

They're all for socket A CPUs... the -a models use a three-toe clip to attach to the socket's plastic cleats, while the -u models use the four mounting holes in some performance motherboards. Your board can use either.

you'll need to bend a few capacitors and a part of your northbridge heatsink to get the 900u to fit. The others will fit easily. I recommend the 800u since using the 4 mounting holes is the best way to attach such a heavy snik, and the 900u is only a hair better than the 800u anyway so why force the 900.
The slk700 isn;t that popular because it costs more than the sk7 yet cools about the same. The sk7/slk800/slk900 may have been the ones recommended earlier.
Summary: Hmm well there are many options you can go for. You can spend ALOT of money or spend a little and take an hour to learn how to overclock. Id say you should get this XP 2500 Barton $90 ABIT NF7-S mobo...
Summary: I am looking to buy a new computer. I have settled on the Biostar M7NGC 400. I want to get a Thermal Right SLK-700 HSF, but the motherboard does not have the four holes around the socket, and I don'...
