Reply: (edit)SLI is just and NVIDIA system which is available on some motherboards. These motherboards have 2 PCI express slots so that you can use two of the same card toghether to get more perfomance. ATI will soon be releasing thier version of SLI(Im not sure what they will call it) which will also use two video cards but should produce better results becuase of a diffrent way thier system works. PCI express is a step-up from AGP and is the future medium for videocards. SLI is obviously faster but not by that much, no more than 50% max I think with average increase at 25%. But it costs much more since the mother board tends to be more expensive and you have to get two of video card you want to really get the performance increase. Some people prefer to buy a SLI motherboard and one card and upgrade later. Personally I think the idea of two video cards is cool but the costs dont justifiy it.I would just get a regular motherboard with PCI express and put a highend card in there and just overclock it for the best performace/cost ratio.Or you could wait for the ATI SLI solution which should bring the NVIDIA SLI prices down due to competition. Anyway I recommend not going SLI becuase of the high cost but if you have money to burn....
