Hey, I've got a question regarding the slaving of a drive with partitions.
My friend has a computer with both Windows XP Home and Windows XP Pro on different partitions of the same hard drive. He can select his OS at startup. The reason for this is that his Windows XP Pro installation had some corrupt system files and he needed to install a new OS.

He has some pictures on his Windows XP Pro partition that he'd like to save. I slaved his hard drive onto my computer, but I can only see the XP Home installation. How can I see a different partition on his drive when slaved? Thanks.

That's strange, XP should assign a drive letter to each partition at boot.

Only thing I can suggest is to try Knoppix; when it boots it is pretty good at finding all partitions/drives. For a discussion of how to use it, go here:

Why can't he do it himself? If he can boot into XP home, slaving the HDD is unnecessary - just boot up, then access the XP Pro partition from "My Computer" & drag & drop the files to wherever he wants them in XP Home.

One way the partition to disappear is for it to be set as 'hidden'. This can occur if you use 'BootMagic' from 'Partition Magic'. If so, start Partition Magic from XP Home or from Rescue Disks and UNHIDE the XP Pro Partition.

If you don't use Windows XP or 2000 you can't see any NTFS Partitons. The XP Home maybe installed on a FAT32 Partion so you could read it!
