Simply will not boot

September 7, 2012 at 15:05:06
Specs: Windows 7, AMD Quad Core
I have been looking for this for days, but I haven't found anything that's quite the same.

I flashed my bios and now the screen will not come on. It won't do anything, it's like there is no power applied to it. I don't know what else is happening, but if I leave it on, about ten minutes later, the laptop simply powers off. It's a gateway NV55S laptop. The lights in front work, the beep for the power supply work, but I don't know if anything else is going on.

I used the correct BIOS for the system, downloaded right from Gateway's website...

Are you using an external monitor? If so disconnect it and see if the laptop's screen works. If you're not using an external monitor, can you temporarily connect one and see if works that way?

Unless there was an actual benefit to doing the BIOS update, it should have been avoided. Failed BIOS updates can cause serious problems and not all of them are recoverable from. The above advice, especially about contacting Gateway support is probably your best bet. If you are still under warranty or extended warranty, you may be in better shape than if you are not.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
