Hi, It seems simple but i would like whether there is a tutorial that speaks on the data cables of floopy/hd drives(i.e which way these have to be attached.say the red strip which side) thanks. Even if there is some info on the connector of the power supply that goes into the floopy drive(i.e which side) Thanks
Thanks for your help

The red stripe goes from pin1 to pin1, but they are usually keyed so you can't get them the wrong way around. The power cables are always keyed.

Exactly what Totty said
Here is a link
http://www.mikeshardware.com/howtos/howto_connect_ide_hd.htmlThe dumbest question is the one not asked

G'day,
Totty and angrymen2001 have just about said it all, but one point to remember in this situation is to look carefully at each connector. The IDE connector (HD, CD, floppy etc) is keyed, but the power lead works on its shape. In theory, it can't be connected the wrong way around, but as many on this forum will attest to; it has been "forced" into the drive's socket by many people. Connectors should mate easily, if you meet any resistance there is a good chance you have it wrong.
Look at each end and you will have a much better chance of success.
regards,
Elric

And another tip: Usualy the red strips (ide and power) point in the same way. ie: either both to inside or both outside. Did that make any sense?? ;/
GooD LucK!
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...

Most of the floppy drives are keyed both ways. The rule of thumb is the twisted end of the flat ribbon goes to the drive pointing down. While the other end is only going to fit one way to the motherboard.
As for the power connections to hard and optical drives the rounded side of the connector goes up.
BUT the NUMBER ONE RULE is > If it won't fit DON'T FORCE IT. Pull it out and see what the problem is and fix it...I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...
