I really need some help with this. My laptop started out this way just deciding to shutdown by itself. As long as u stay in the bios it won't shut down. I tried reinstalling the os from cd but it loads the files from the cd and then u can hear the cooling fan slow down and then the laptop shuts down. I tool the hard drive out and restarted the laptop booting from the cd again and it shutdown again. It does this with or without the ac adapter plugged in. Please help me with this. Its a microtel and I'm not sure which direction to go with this.

Does your CPU fan squeek? It sounds like an over heating issue. You could also go into the BIOS and check the fan settings. They may be set to low. Try downloading speedfan and see what your system is running at....

Did you try going into the Bios and adjusting the fan speeds? You computer is over heating causing a shutdown.
