Should I update my video card?

Specs: Windows XP
Hi everyone,

A few months I custom built a computer for myself. I salvaged my HDD and video card from my old machine.

I recently started playing Battlefield 2 and have noticed I have lag spikes when I move around a lot or change environments.

Stats of my card as according to dxdiag:

Name: ATI Radeon x300/x550/x1050 series
Chip type: Radeon x600 (0x5B62)
DAC type: Internal DAC(400mhz)
Memory: 256MB

Would buying a newer card maybe solve my problems with my gaming? If so, what card would you recommend? My budget isn't too low -- I don't want to spent much more than $200 though.

For the record: I don't do much with graphics or anything. It's mostly gaming/internet/etc.
