Here's my computer : It's a P4 3.2 (Socket 775), memory of 1024 (2 512 (3200) in dual channel), a Chaintech 6600GT, WD SATA Hard drive (200Go) and a mobo V915P.
My monitor is a lot older than my computer (it's a 4 years old 77A Daytek) and it can't reach highter than 60Hertz for the refresh rate. In games like Counter-Strike Source, I get like 95FPS... does that mean that in fact I don't get more than 60 FPS because of my crappy monitor? Am I bottlenekking my performance?? Should I get a new monitor? (If yes, CRT or LCD ; and why?)
Thanks for your help!

A crt will out proform an lcd any time. A crt type monitor will react to brightness and contrast changes faster than a lcd will. The draw back to a crt type monitor is its size. My 19" is almost 2' front to back. But it only cost $50.00 second hand. It's got killer color and a wide range of refresh rates.

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

Refresh Rate and Frame rate have nothing to do with each other. They are two completely independent parameters. One is measured in Hz on the other in. well, frames per second. Refresh Rate is determined by the monitor. Frame Rate is determined by the Graphics Card. Changing the Refresh Rate will have not the slightest effect on the Frame Rate although it will look better.

However, I would get another monitor. 60Hz can't be doing your eyes any good.

In terms of health & safety at work i believe anything under 72 refresh rate is considered bad for employees eyes.
I work for an insurance company who just installed all new equipment in our office. They left all the screens at refresh rate of 60. I can see them flickering but many other employees can not detect the flicker although they did complain of it hurting their eyes after a while. I have altered the screens to 120 which makes a lot of difference.
I consider 60 to be unbearable and can see the flicker immediately.
Anyway, when you look in device manager does it show correct make & model of monitor or soemthing generic like Default Monitor or Plug & Play monitor. If it does not show the full make & model it is likely you may get higher refresh rate option if you have the specific drivers for that make & model of monitor.
