My old AT Power Supply Unit's fan got problem. Thus, i wanted to use ATX Power Supply Unit but i need another switch to connect to the power jumper to start my com (which is very hard to find). Therefore can i just short the power jumper on my motherboard to start the pc?
my com is a pentium III - 600MHz and my motherboard is a baby AT which can also support ATX power supply

I wouldn't rcommend doing that. But it would work in a pinch. You can't find something at your local Radio Shack?

Go to Radio Shack and get a rocker arm switch.....one that resets and centers itself. The switch on your AT will work but you have to turn it on and then off or the ATX power unit will just power down....like when you hold the ATX switch on to shut down.
AT switches are like your wall switch.... one way its on the other its off.
ATX is more like a push button switch....push it on.....hold it down the machine shuts down.
If you have an old case hanging around you can use the re-set switch out of it as a power on switch for the ATX power supply. I guess what I'm saying is that the switch for an ATX is just a temp. jumper on the motherboard........hope this makes some kind of sense.

Yes you can, I do it all the time on builds. Find the PSWTCH header on the series of tiny terminals that have your HDD LED, USB plugs, etc. Just use a screwdriver to short the two little pins and the CPU fan will power up.
