i killed my cd burner.purchased replacement .cables are totally diff.I dont even have IDe set up.what drive do i buy?

Which cable can't you fit? The data cable of the power cable?

SATA drives have a smaller data connector and they are not interchangable with an IDE controller connector.

If it is just the power connector then get an adapter from the molex type power connectors you may have to the type used on SATA drives. Both use 12 volts so it is no big deal.

If you need an IDE type then you may need to exchange. Possibly you have SATA connections and just need a cable.
