My computer won't boot into windows, the operating system is messed up, so i bought a new ATA HD to copy the files from the old SATA HD and then i will format the SATA HD. I need to know how to hook up the new ATA HD to boot my PC.Do I unplug the SATA HD then install the ATA HD as Master & install the OS then reconnect the SATA HD. Also the DVD burner is the master on the secondary channel do i just leave it like that if it is on a different ribbon cable.

Not enough information. If your CPU is a 32bit Athlon you will probably need to install SATA drivers when first installing WinXP. Additionally, if your version of WinXP is ORIGINAL, you will have issues with any HDrive larger than 127GB. There are some workarounds for this. Look at the link below for more info on the 127GB barrier on HDrives.
