I was looking at memory on pricewatch and was planning on buying 1gb of ddr pc2700. The ad says Mostly Compatible with ServerMBoards. Not sure exactly what that means. All the rest of the specs fit my mother board which is the Abit KX7-333. This board will run ddr pc2700, unbuffered and/or registered memory. But still wonder what the "Mostly compatible with servermboards means?"

Sounds like generic stuff. I suggest you stay away & get some decent name brand RAM. Apparently Corsair's having an "after rebate" sale:
Corsair 1GB PC2700 @ Fry's - $20 after rebate
Corsair 1GB PC2700 @ Newegg - $23 after rebate
Corsair 1GB PC2700 @ TigerDirect - $26 after rebate
Corsair 1GB PC2700 @ ZipZoomFlyt - $29.50 after rebate w/free shipping
Or if you want ECC/Registered:
Samsung 1GB PC2700 ECC Registered @ Geeks - $17
For 10% off your Geeks.com order, enter the code MCEXCLUSIVES when you checkout.

You can't mix types at all on most server boards. Most require registered and ecc.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
