I just bought a new mother board Gigabyte ga7vaxp-ultra. I reinstalled all my drives processor ram ect.ect...all cables are tightly into place everything is hooked up exactly how it is supposed to be, I've checked many times. Here is my problem, or I should say many problems. A select few of my games will install. Usually i get an error sayin the crc failed and to check the cd for dirt or scratches. NONE!!! The games are in BRAND NEW SHAPE and i've had them installed before. games will just crash to desktop. My sound is crackly makin noises like crazy when ever there is a sound. I've checked everything on the computer with another tower of mine and everything works fine. ram tested fine pro as well. The harddrive was just freshly reformatted and xp was put on. I have all the updated drivers/sound/video/dx9. Does anyone think that it could be the motherboard or could it be a bad install of windowsxp? If i forgot something just ask.

thanks for any help

Hi.I know what your problem is.
The sound crackling is normaly and happens to everyone especially when u play with the knob on your pc speaker.
When i tried to install a game called red faction, i got the same crc error as you. Sometimes i didnt get it and sometimes i did. When i cleaned my cd rom real nice and put it in the cdrom drive, it worked perfectly. Since u say ur cd rom is clean, maybe its ur cd rom drive?

Try using another CD-ROM drive, Corey. I have seen this sort of thing before, too. ALso, recheck your CMOS setup for the CD-ROM, drive. Do you have it set as the slave or master on it's channel? Maybe let XP reinstall the drivers for it. It's something in this area. As for the sound, I don't have anything to offer. I have seen this problem before on these forums. Try the Search button on the left, look for 'scratchy sound'. Good luck :)
