Serious pc problem Solve it if u cn

Specs: Windows XP SP2
i hav assembled a pc 1 year 3 months ago,my config is core 2 duo cpu 2.66 Ghz,Abit fatality F-190HD motherboard,zion 1GB ram 800 mhz ddr2,a 160 GB hdd of WD..
Now recently i upgraded my PC with Corsair XMS DHX2 4GB ddr2 800 Mhz of RAM a 2 GB kit.Also a seagate 500 GB of HDD.whenever i run my pc the second HDD seagate goes unidentified i.e. the drives of this particular HDD is not shown after a moment of pc running.It comes back when i scan for new hardware changes in device manager.
This lead to my HDD crash and i got replaced it recently.Now i again get the same problem.Also the day i started using the new rams this problem started.Is this HDD's problem or RAM's problem.
Also when i work on 3DS MAX it either it crashes or it hangs my PC.What culd be the problem my hardware or the software.I tried formatting and reinstalled XP SP2 bt the problem sustains.Plz answer since i m nt able to understand what is the problem..HELP me PLZ.....

Start by setting bios settings to fail safe or default.

Re-seat every device (be sure to protect against esd damage)

Replace the hard drive cables with good to very good quality cables.

for the 3d see event viewer.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Did you try to take out the new ram as see if the problem goes away? If you take out the new ram and the problem remains, it COULD be the hard drive. Try taking out one stick of ram, if it works fine with one stick you probably have the bad stick in your hand. If its still malfunctioning, swap the sticks, if the problem goes away then that stick in your hand is bad.

You could also have a hard drive problem, or possibly ram and hdd problems together.
