Can anyone recommend some good third party software to run my security cameras? (To run within Windows 2000.)

I'm using two Dlink DCS-2000 cameras, and the software which comes with the cameras does not allow for recording, only when motion is detected with in vision of camera.

As was the case with previous versions of Dlink Cameras.

I want to be able to record avi files, only when something is moving within the camera's vision.

I'm trying to avoid creating 300mb of useless information each time I run these cameras during the night.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Are the cameras activated by motion? Or are they always on?

The firmware within the cameras supports activate by motion, but the oem software which came with the cameras does not.

Very strange, since I purchased a similar camera from Dlink about eight years ago, and the software with that particular camera did support activate by motion.

So this is my problem, I need a piece of software similar to Dlink's original IPView program, which supports activate by motion.

Thanks.
