Comment:

I connected my harddisk to my friends PC and made it as sec slave.

I checked in the BIOS setup that my hard disk was properly detected(along with primary hard disk of my friend). But when I exit the BIOS it says Sec Slave HDD error. If I continue by pressing F1, it boots normally from the primary hard disk and does not show any drives of my hard disk.

suggest me sumthing please.

regards,
Puneet

Thanks for your reply.
Jumper setting seems to be fine.
If jumper setting would have been wrong then it would not have been detected in BIOS as sec slave.
Correct me if I m wrong?

Puneet

XP with just 128MB RAM? It must run like crap!

Double check your jumper settings & if the HDD is paired up with another drive (optical?), check the jumper setting on that as well.

I would try fdisk then repartitioning and formating it. Be sure his machine can read ntfs format or use fat 32.

If you still have or can get the hd's installation cd try using it and set it up as slave.

I am guessing you made sure his disk is not set up as Cable select???

Hope these thoughts lead you in the right direction.

Why are you installing your drive in your friend's computer? Is there a problem with the drive or OS?

At what point do you see the message that there is a problem with the slave?

If the secondary IDE channel wasn't in use before it may not be Enabled in the BIOS.
