Specs: Windows 8
model SRD00F2. WAS WORKING FINE. BUT NO LONGER TURNS ON. NO LIGHT SHOWS. NEVER ANY PREVIOUS INDICATION OF PROBLEMS. LOST ALL MY DATA.

You can hope it's a power issue. If it's externally powered then try a different power supply. If it's powered through the USB port try using a powered USB hub or at least try a different cable and USB port.

The problem may be power connections inside the USB enclosure.

You can always remove the drive from the enclosure and attach it internally to the computer and see if the bios recognizes it.

If the drive itself is dead there's not much you can do.

If no lights at all, looks like the power adapter is faulty or not plugged in correctly.
What are the specs of the adapter? Output voltage and max. Amperes?
Do you have a multi-meter to check the output voltage of the adapter?

Any warranty left? Perhaps go back to the store, where you bought it, for a quick test. (if they are willing)

All above is important.... Some might even help you (I certainly hope so).
More important is that you apparently do not have a back up of those files.
All important files need to be on at least two drives, more if they are really important to you.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
