How did the hard drive get so full? You cannot fill the hard drive right full, it needs room to move around 15% free space at the least. So when one approaches 85%, one needs to delete some stuff or purchase a larger unit. Fact is, Windows does not currently see ANY file system on external drive. The drive is atleast being detected. The drive may have a physical problem. Assuming the drive is ok, the file system has at least been corrupted or converted to a RAW format. As it stands it does not see ANY of your data which to me means unless chhdsk fixes your problem (and it most likely won't) you will be attempting data recovery. In which case, before I even tried chkdsk, I would install a data recovery program on the main drive and see if you can find any of your data. If you can, grab it, if you can't then you can go back and try fixes. PC Files Inspector and Recuva are 2 decent free ones to try, and I would PC Files Insp. first.

In disk manager its indicating that my volume is 100% free !!!!

and in cmd promt message i got is " Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)"
even though restarting and performing chckdsk its showing up the same..
