Hi, i have just put a new harddrive in my new system Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard.I used Seagate tools to format, partition etc.The BIOS detects my drive at its full capacity only ''sometimes'' otherwise it says it is 20mg in size!Consequently the system 'hangs'on the POST test and locks up.I have manually set up the drives correct settings but to no avail? The BIOS is AWARD v6 and only dated 14/1/03 so i would have thought it should recognize a 40g drive without problems.Any ideas? Thanks!

Are you using the blue, black and grey connectors, 40 pins, 80 conductors IDE ribbon cable?Connect blue to the motherboard, black to the master drive and grey to the slave drive. The hard drive should be master.Good luck.
