I tried to insert a 64mb ram module. When I started the pc i got this message:
Sdram failure: pc may hang.
switch off pc and change sdram to pc100.
What does this mean? What is the problem?

Well, what type of ram did you put in there ? Is it PC100 or PC133. You may have put in PC100 and the BIOS could be set for PC133. Go into BIOS and see if you can set the memory speed at 100MHz.

What is the differnce of PC100 and PC133?
If I set the memory speed at 100MHz can i still use the old 128mb ram module?

Its 2 differant things ! For instance I have 256MB RAM PC133 installed on my system that originialy had 2 64MB PC100 Ram sticks . When I upgraded I installed 2 128MB RAM PC133 Sticks and they worked, my system still ran at PC100 because they have backwards compatability I could use the PC133 sticks. However if your machine runs at PC133 and you install a PC100 stick then you will have compatabilitiy problems.

i just bought a pc100 256mb ram stick for my computer. i installed it and all, but the computer doesn't even look for it. and to add to that, it's only using half of the ram... i have 2 sticks of 64mb installed, then i bought the new one. instead of having 384mb for ram, i only have 256! what could have gone wrong?
