What are we talking for a scsi hd vs a raid setup on a couple of ide's ? is there going to be a major difference? is it worth the extra dollars?

scsi hard drive's are the fastest.
10000 rpm...compare to normal hard drives (IDE) which only had 7200rpm max.

SCSI is not only used for servers. Many home users use SCSI HDD's. Now you can get a decent RAID setup with IDE but if you are looking for pure speed go with SCSI but IDE should not be over looked if cost is a consideration.

dont be fooled by raw specs
SCSI are currently the 'fastest' but by recent comparison, in personal computing use they perform slower than a SCSI drive. SCSI drives are built for servers and allow for high speed when being accesed by multiple computers at the same time but reviews have shown that at this level (when only being accesed by one computer), an IDE drive is much more affordable, faster and easier to install

This is actually for a w2k server that will have 15 other office pc's networked to it. Sounds like that might mean scsi ? since the scsi should be much faster for multiple access at the same time right ? or once again is this just going to boil down to balancing cost/ease of use/etc.
