Specs: Windows XP
I am trying to install Umax 610 scanner using its SCSI card into my Pentium - III and Pentium-I PCs.It works on none.It is not recognized on Pentium -I while on Pentium-II it says

"resource conflict PCI Mass Storage Controller on Motherboard Bus00, Device-07,Function01"

Pentium-II Intel 440 BX_2 Motherboard

1) I have nothing in PCI slots
2) One AGP Video Card
3) Windows XP (Freshly installed)
4) 320 MB RAM
5) Only UMAX SCSI card in ISA slot.
6) Have tried both the ISA slots
7) Have installed the UMAX software/drivers through the provided CD.
8) Scanner Lamp lights well and adjusts to and fro when switched on.
9) It used to work well on my Pentium-I before I put teh PC in store.
10) Different combinations of IRQs on BIOS settings

I have wasted one week on the two computers before disturbing you.Hope you will give some advice.

ISA needs (usually) to have the owners manual to decide how to jumper the board or set bios settings.

Without some clues you may never get this working.

Do the systems work properly without the card?

Yes the system works perfectly as I remove the card otherwise it refuses to boot and go to windows complaining the conflict.I used the reset jumper on the motherboard, nothing happened. No I have removed the battery for a night to see if it works. The user manual for the board is at

Please see if you find some clue.

You need to find out some info on that card. ISA's cards took a lot of tasks to get working. That is why they went to pci plug and play. See if you can get an owners manual from some place.

There may be jumpers on that card or you may need to re-assign other devices. Might have to set some boot time parameters but nothing can be done by a guess.

I have the manual that came with the scanner and the card (card came with the scanner by UMAX) .It says that for conflicts you can set the dial on the scanner the factory setting is 5.I tried all the options also tried all combinations on the card's two jumpers but still conflict.Tried both the ISA Slots, removed all cards from PCI slots but I can't change the Mass Storage Controller which is causing the conflict.
