I have a scsi card when I boot from ide "C" I can see the scsi CDR but not the scsi HD. THe hard drive is seen by the DOS/windows boot up along witht the adapter and all address (device #'s) are not conflicting.
Termination is on the "end" devices (not on the card). If I move the cdr to internal or external it is seen, but the HD is not seen in 98SE or from a DOS prompt. I have tried 3 different HDs.......???
Thanks

what type of partition were they formatted with? FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS. If they were partitioned using NTFS, DOS or Win98 won't see them.

What do you mean "end devices". So you have a device on the external interface and the internal interface? And you are providing termination at both ends? This would be the ONLY reason not to have termination enabled on the card.
Fact you have tried 3 different drives tells me you have a problem with your configuration.
You should be able to go into the scsi card bios, go to the drive and do a low level. If it completes then the drive and card plus termination is correct. if not then its your term or config that is the problem.

The card is an Adaptec AVA 1505 A. It is designed for internal and/or external devices. If it is used with only int or ext the card must have terminators. (this much I know). I have one device on int and one external. (therefore I don't have termination). Each device (CDR or HD) has termination enabled.
When I used adaptec software I can see the HD and Its assigned #, and I even ran a scan (adaptecs version of scandisk) on the drive (which was ok). As I mentioned as I boot the device is listed as detected SCSI devices.
If I look for the SCSI devices from a dos prompt or 98SE they are not there.
I was told they are FAT or FAT 32.....
I can't even get to them to re-install 98se on them.
If I can get to them I will format and install 98.
Thanks
