Comment:

I have a server with a 18gig SCSI hard drive, running Windows 2000 Server. I want to add a big IDE hard drive I have, for storage.

How should I set the IDE hard drive, asuming it's on its own IDE channel - Master or Slave? And if it's master, as I suspect, how will I stop the computer trying to boot to that drive, as the SCSI drive doesn't actually show up in the BIOS as it has its own 'mini bios', but the computer seems to know to boot to it OK?

Thanks,

Chris C

You should set the IDE HD up as master on the primary IDE interface.
In the BIOS you can set the boot search order
for floppy,SCSI,IDE0 and so on. Ofcourse you have to set the priority of the SCSI device correct. And make sure the BIOS of the Mobo
can detect your new IDE-HD.
It should not give any problems.
Good lucl.
