I want to switch two circuit boards that are at the bottom of Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 hard drives, but the screws on them are star screws. Has anyone ever tried to remove the screw from these drives? What exact type of screwdriver do I need to use?

They're called Torx screws. You need a Torx driver. They come in various sizes, and you can but a kit with a handle and a number of "bits" to cover a range of sizes.

I have seen a couple of Torx screwdrivers on the internet but they are sold in deifferent ranges, do you know if it can be a T10 or T20? because I might buy a set from T5 to T10, then i'll find that it should have been T20. I can also bring the drive to a shop, but i don't think it would be convenient.
Do you know the type of torx?

Anything about 10 or larger I'm thinking would be WAY too big. I don't know what size you want, but if, for example, there is a Sears store near you that carries tools, they DID have sets of these, small, like jewelers screwdrivers, with several flat blade, phillips, and so on. Seems to me they used ot sell these separately, too. Take your drive down there, or to any big "tools" store.
