Screen turns white after 30-45 seconds

Emachines Em250-1162
May 12, 2010 at 06:56:29
Specs: Windows Vista
When I first start the netbook the screen is fine, but within one minute it starts to flicker with flashing horizontal lines (and one vertical line) and then it turns completely white.

The picture is perfectly clear until it fades to white. This happens whether I am logging into Windows 7 starter or if I go to BIOS.

Could this just be a loose video cable or is it the LCD itself? Is seems as though the screen only does this as it starts to heat up? And, how do I rule out an inverter or a motherboard problem?

Please advise...

Try to recover personal files and then get a warranty replacement.

Yeah, I figured I'd have to but I'm out of the country (in France) for the next couple of months and didn't want to be without a computer for that long. eMachines will only ship it back to a U.S. address...

But, I guess it isn't anything I can fix on my own...(?)

Thanks for your response.
