Screen turns off during boot

Specs: Windows XP, 2.4 ghz / 512mb ram
Hi, ive had this problem for a bit of time and would like to finally put this error to sleep.

Everytime i turn on my computer, the monitor doesnt seem to be responding, this is not an error with the monitor as i have tried different ones and they all act the same.

Anyway, when the monitor doesnt respond, i have to restart the computer a few times, after 4/5 attempts, i get the dell screen and then the monitor turns itself off, a few restarts later windows loads and all seems fine.

I have installed new drivers for the video card, someone suggested to change the cmos battery, did that but still didnt solve the problem.

Is there anyone who would be able to help me please.

I'm thinking creating a windows xp start up disk to see if that would help????

Please help!!!!

Many thanks in advance
