Screen is blank

Specs: Windows XP
My computer turned on but nothing is displayed on the monitor the monitor stays in power save mode.Monitor works on other computer though so i know thats not it.I have tried trouble shooting on dell wedsite it is a dell dimension 3000 system the amber light is solid I have 2 dvd burners in and .After troubleshooting I connected everything back and now it dont even turm on could it be the power supply or what is your advice.I only bought the computer new about 2 or 3 years ago.

Start by saying what you unplugged? Just everything on the outside of the box or did you go inside as well? If you unplugged the power supply inside, make sure the power supply and 12V lines are both connected (usually a 4-line black/yellow cable that sits close to the CPU).

OK I unplugged the power supply and took out the ram and memory and disconnected dvd roms and anything that was able to be disconnected I tried I followed step by step procedure trouble shooting it through dell website it just didnt work.
