My lenovo laptop (3000/N100- intel integrated graphics) has started to flicker when the mains plug is disconnected and is running off the battery.
It does this 9/10 but not always.
If i start the machine from battery, it works fine. It is only when It has been running off AC and AC is disconnected that i have a flickering issue. By flickering i mean that the screen literaly flashes on and off fairly quickly.
Could this be a settings or battery issue? Or more likely hardware?
There is no flickering when removing AC when connected to an external monitor

it never used to happen though.. I'm inclined to believe that there is something causing the flicker

Maybe I did, Maybe I didnt.
The reason I am asking is because I have an accidental damage insurance policy on the machine.. And I dont believe that removing the power cable damaged the machine. It may have been something else. God you aren't very friendly are you?? You need to chill out. Most people on here are more than friendly and informative.

Suit yourself any way you like. You asked the question & I presented you with factual facts.
Good day!

I'm not sure exactly what you are doing.
On my laptop, sometimes, if I turn off the mains to let it run on the battery, the screen will go dim, that is if the battery is a bit flat. But as you say flickering, that doesn't sound like it. Perhaps, there is a dodgy connection to the screen?
As far as I'm concerned you can pull the plug, switch it off at the wall or pull out the DC connection into the laptop itself. It shouldn't do any harm. Because the battery is in it.
As there is a battery in it, you are not just removing the power before shutting down. Unlike a desktop, which would just turn off if it was not plugged in.
As for the accidental damage insurance, when does it run out? See if the problem is still there nearer the time.
Sorry if I haven't been any help.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 9400. This started happening a few weeks ago, the laptop is just over one year old.
The symptoms are exactly as you have mentioned i.e. happens most of the time, it's okay when starting with battery power etc.
Sorry to say I have not rectified the problem yet.

I also have the exact same problem with inspiron 6400. I contacted dell tech support (who were extremely usefull), they advised that i sent them the laptop to get the motherboard replaced. Laptop was returned yesterday, however problem persisted. Any help would be brilliant.
