Okay. I installed a new graphics card about a week ago(ATI Radeon X1050) and once installed, I get a sound issue. The sound scratches whenever I scroll in a window, if audio of any kind is on. I currently have the most recent video driver, and sound driver. I emailed ATI support, but they told me that it had nothing to do with their product.. Can anyone help me fix this? Btw, the sound card is(Reading from device manager) "High Definition Audio Device", I assume its intergrated.
Thanks.

you can download Everest Home:

so you can see what the devices are.Are there any ! marks in the device manager?
If you take out the vid card do you still have the scratching problem? Most companies always pass the buck when it comes to problems.

There are no !'s in the device manager, and If I disable the video card, I dont get the scratching noise. And Nope, Im using a wired optical mouse.

"I installed a new graphics card about a week ago(ATI Radeon X1050)"
Obviously a choice based solely on price & not performance.
"If I disable the video card, I dont get the scratching noise"
If you disable the card, how do you get a display on your screen? Do you switch over to the onboard video? You need to disable the onboard in the BIOS, uninstall the drivers, & possibly disable it in device manager.

This is how I disable the card. I go in device manager, find the card, and press "disable", the screen goes black, then appears. It obviously switches to the intergrated graphics by itsself.

"It obviously switches to the intergrated graphics by itsself"
To switch to the onboard graphics, you would have to shutdown the PC & monitor, then unplug the monitor cable from the X1050, connect it to the onboard port, then bootup again.

Then do explain how I have visual when I DISABLE the card. AND why the audio works fine when DISABLED.

"Then do explain how I have visual when I DISABLE the card"
You're not disabling the card. If you did, you'd get no display at all. And you're not using the onboard video unless the monitor is plugged into the onboard video port. It appears you have a driver problem.
What you need to do is what I explained in response #3. Disable the onboard video in Device Manager, uninstall the onboard video drivers & disable the onboard in the BIOS. And make sure to return the "shared memory" back to the system.

Use these drivers for your X1050. I suggest that you download & install option 2, Display Driver 1 of 2. Don't install the Catalyst Control Center...you can always install it later if you feel you need it.

EDIT: before installing the new driver, make sure to uninstall the old driver.

Okay, sorry. When I look in Device Manager > Display Adapters, there is only ATI Radeon X1050, and I dont see the onboard on anywhere. Ive already uninstalled the Intel drivers for them(I made a restore point before it, so I wouldnt mess things up). Now how exactly do I disable it in the BIOS? And how do I return the shared memory? =/

If the onboard isn't showing up in device manager, it may have auto-disabled when the X1050 was detected.
Is the full amount of RAM being detected? All 1536MB? If it is, then you don't have to worry about the shared memory setting.

Okay I just checked the BIOS, and the only related thing I could find is this.
In BIOS > Advanced > Video Configuration
There was one settingPrimary Video Configuration <seton> auto
The other options were: auto, Ext PCIE Graphics (PEG), and Ext PCI Graphics.Could that be it?

I just ran system restore then followed your steps. I uninstalled the Intel drivers, and then I downloaded the ATI drivers you posted. I then uninstalled my current ATI drivers, then installed your drivers. Restarted, and I still have the scratching. =/

If the above ideas don't work...
why not just return the new card or even call their tech support...that's what they get paid for. Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions

they always tend to pass the buck, can you still return it?
