scracthing or irrking sound

Specs: Windows 7, 3gb
i use a intel pentium dual core E5200 series.i updated my vga and ram to ati radeon hd 6670 and 3gb ram a couple of months suddenly i hear a scracthing or irrinking like gramaphone scracthing noise(not the click of death from hdd)so i switched off my computer.when i turned it on it started slowly and after 5mins i heard the sound and switched it it works fine for the past hour.Do I Need to worry?

I agree it's most likely a fan. You can stop any exposed fan with your fingertip and if the noise goes away then that's the one.

Don't use a screwdriver or anything like that to stop the fan as that can break a fan blade.

If it is a fan, with care you can lubricate the bearings. I did so for the PSU fan on my XP some years ago.

If you recently installed hardware, you may just have wires running too close to a fan and now they are just touching the blades. Look into this as well as the possibility that one of your fans are going. Fans are not expensive so if is an easily replaced one, just replace it. If the video card's fan is the culprit and it is new, consider sending it back to the factory to a new one (RGA).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
