I am trying to get the school I work for's printer/copier to scan things to people's email accounts. When I scan, it says sending, waiting, sending, waiting, and then it will time out and give me the error:"A TCP/IP error occured while sending an e-mail message. (Socket, Select error, etc.)". I have set up a gmail account and entered in the correct mail servers and have set SMTP send to 465 and SMTP recieve to 465. Gmail told me to use either 465 or 587. I am using port 995 for incoming pop3 as specified by gmail. The printer has an IP address and is accessable over the network. Am I using wrong ports or should I disable pop3. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

Have you tried accessing the device through the web browser (Remote UI)?

If you're sending from the scanner, you shouldn't have to input incoming server information.

You could also go right to the source: 1-800-OK-CANON.

Life's more painless for the brainless.
