Hi all
Just assembled my first PC a few weeks back.
CPU Athlon XP 1600+ @ 1.41GHz
Memory 256 MB PC2100 DDR RAM
Mobo Gigabyte GA7DXR+ 268FSB
HDD 60 GB Maxtor UDMA133 7200 RPM
Case Midi Tower 3+2 Bays
Fan Thermaltake
DVD ROM Toshiba SD-M1102
CDRW HP 9310i
Modem 56K PCI Voice Modem
Graphics Card Mpact 8 MB (Awaiting upgrade!)
Sound Card SB Live Platinum 5.1
PSU 220V
HSF Coolermaster DP5-6I11A
Cambridge Soundworks 4.1 speakersThe sound output from both the DVD and CDRW come out only from the front speakers, and very faintly from the rear ones. But mp3s come out all 4 speakers.
The DVD is connected to the Graphics card and then the line out is connected to the CD-IN of SB. CDRW is connected to AUX-IN of SB.
On testing the configuration using SB all 4 speakers work as with playing mp3s.
The onboard sound on the mobo is disabled.
Also there is no sound from the modem, which is connected to TAD-IN. The AT settings are not switched off.
Any ideas?
TIA
Gruffy

Try connecting the DVD-rom to sound in on motherboard and see how that works. Some sound cards have to be configured according to speaker arrangment but since mp3s play ok I dont think that will apply. Is your dvd 5.1 capapble.I know I just updated my power DVD and it is 2 speaker only but your sound card may add in the other channells I run a 2.1 setup on a stereo jack so I have mine configured for 2 stand speakers

Thanks for the reply Ron.
My DVDROM is about 3 years old, but on my old PC (without SB Pt Live) it used all 4 speakers.
