Comment:

I've currently got a Live! 5.1 card hooked up to Creative's DTT2200 5.1 speakers (these are analog, not digital).

There are three 3.5mm connectors that run from the speakers to the line outs on the card.

My question is if I get an Audigy 2, which as ive just found out carries the 6th (centre surround) channel on the 3rd line out, will it work OK with my current speakers?

it will work fine but those speakers are setup for 5.1 and will never be able to be used as 6.1 or 7.1 or etc.

U will have to setup the card for 5.1 sound. so don't plug anything into the card untill you set it up.
