Specs: Windows 7 home prem. 64 abit, 320 GB hard drive

when I start up my toshiba satellite l655d-s5066 lap top; I get the dos screen; Intel UNDI, Pxe-2.0
For atheros PCIE ethernet controller v2.01.1.9912/15/09
Check cable connection!
PXE-MOF:Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

Hi Mavis007,
That did not work because LAN was last on the list and there is no where else in the boot manager to disable any of LAN protocols.
The fan is always really loud on the lap top as well. I think it's the hard drive. I've only had the lap top since last August 2010. :(
Taking it to the Toshiba service center and I ordered a boot disk. Thanks again!

... Toshiba are good with warranties, might be worth taking a peek in the bios settings again.

... is the hardrive seen in the bios? ... set in the boot order?

... is it set on a Sata mode?
