sata2 hd with sata mobo

I was wondering if I could use sata2 harddisk with my sata only supported mobo.

Usually no problem. You do realise it will default to standard SATA, for SATA2 your mb needs to support it.

It will still run at maximum speed. There are no hard drives available that come close to pushing the SATA or even the IDE 133mhz limit.
