Can I use the SATA features on my motherboard without using any type of RAID setup? Will I need to install the drivers when XP asks "Press F6 to install RAID drivers". I can disable RAID in the BIOS before installing, if that is the proper way to do this.
Thanks alot...

I just set this up myself. I have an Asus A7n8xe-deluxe mb and bought a single SATA Raptor Drive. If it is anything like my setup this what you will need to do: You will need to install the SATA RAID drivers (Hit F6 during XP install). And you will need to make sure you have the drivers for the SATA RAID controller on a floppy, as it is the only way to load the drivers after hitting F6 (Via a floppy drive).

I have a Intel D875PBZ, and I do have the floppy that came with the motherboard. I want to do it so I have a "C" and a "D" drive, as in an IDE setup.

I have installed at LEAST a hunderd SATA drives and have never used the RAID drivers on any of them.

Try using the install CD that comes with the drive or downloading it from the Mfg's Web site. Alternately you can use somthing like partition magic if you have it.
