Given the choice from these two hard drives, which will give better performance for gaming? FYI - both drives have 8mb cache.

My knowledge on SCSI disks is very limited, the only thing I know is that the disks are usually more expensive than SATA disks. Which Asus motherboard do you have? Honestly, I doubt that it has an integrated SCSI controller. I've only seen this on older systems (<1998)
That would mean that you have to buy an controller and believe me, those are very expensive.

Personally, I think the extra money is not worth that extra speed.
So if i'd had to choose, i'd keep an eye on the SATA disk.

And can I give you two more advices?
-I have the Raptor myself and I must say that I hardly notice the difference in speed. I even believe that a Maxtor with 16MB cache is even faster and A LOT cheaper compaired to it's capacity. And with SATA-2 coming up...

-But, if you insist on buying the Raptor I assume this will be your primary drive including OS, programs etc? If so, I strongly advice to save up for the 74GB version. Because believe me, 37GB nowadays for a 'primary' drive is not enough. And yes I do like gaming too :)

Good luck and let me know what you decide
