First things first !!
Does your mother board have SATA ports ??
What you will need is a thin red or yellow SATA cable.
A power converter for the powers supply cable, they are diffrent connectors to the normal PATA.
No jumpers a necessary, no special settings are required.
If you have a borad with SATA ports you will need to enable the SATA support within the bios.
Can you tell us what board you have, or if you have the manual read the pages refering to the SATA drives and bios setup.
Hope that is of some help to you.
IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT
