Comment:

I have harddisks using SATA technology which replaced the older PATA (IDE) Interfaces.

Which is better the SATA HDD or that old IDE .

I asked this because i found that the new HDD with 10 000 RPM (Segate Bercuda) is very slow. There is data curroption,HDD Hangups, and it cant play a 352 288 Resolution Uncompressed Video without droping frames.

Or is there any method to make this faster.

George

There is practically no difference at all between the two at this time. Eventually SAYA will outclass PATA, but not at this moment in time.

Strange, Seagate apparently doesn't make a 10,000 rpm SATA drive (Seagate Disc Products). Where did you get yours?

The problems you describe may suggest your HDD is defective. You might also see that behavior with a bad IDE configuration, bad cabling, a bad MOBO, bad memory, and a bad PSU.

You might want to run a HDD diagnostic program.

Have been surprised that there are so little difference between the 2 (performance wise).

The main advantage to SATA currently, imo, is the smaller cables and connections, providing easier installation and better air flow in cases that are becoming ever smaller (Shuttle) with ever-more-powerful/hotter CPUs and video cards.
