I have added a SATA HDD from another pc to an old pc using a Serial ATA PCI Host adapter. this HDD contains data i need to keep. after installation and reboot i cant see this drive. In device management i can see the drive as a "Foreign" drive. Can anyone tell me how i can access this drive without having to loose akll of the data on it.

Did the adapter come with sata drivers? You need to install sata drivers for the drive to be usable.

As previous poster said, you need to install the drivers for that card, it should have been supplied with a driver disk. In addition your XP will need to have SP1 or higher installed to use a sata drive.
