I have a sata hdd and a ied connection on my mother broad does any one know if theres a converter avalible? And if so were can I get it been to maplins, parts masters there suppose to be the experts but do not have a clue.

You can either use an SATA to IDE adapter/converter, or you can buy an SATA PCI controller card.

I would advise getting a multiport PCI card, so you have the capability of later adding more drives. Consider one that also has a couple of SATA-E external ports.
