I recently just bought an HP computer (previously i've always built my own) and it uses sata for the HD. I've never dealt with Sata before this so i'm kind of confused. i'm trying to hook up my old IDE HD along with the Sata HD so i can transfer files. When i connect it, it shows up in bios but it won't show up in my computer. Anyone help me on what i'm doing wrong or how to do this? Thanks

The SATA and IDE drives are independent of one another. Forget that SATA is there and set the IDE like you normally would. Be sure the IDE contorller is enabled in the BIOS.

As OtheHill said. Set it as before, just make sure the SATA drive is set as first HDD, not the IDE drive.
