OS: windows xp
CPU/Ram: asus a8v socket 939, fx-5

im trying to install a single sata hard drive on my asus a8v motherboard on the viaraid sata1 slot. it recognises the hard drive fine and everything, then i go into windows xp installation and pres f6 to install the raid drivers, and i put in the boot disk i made from my motherboard cd and..... nothing, it tells me to please wait then to insert the manufacturer support disk or something....i dont know what the hell to do....do i need some special drivers or something?

Try the drive MFG's Website. They all have tools to put on bootable floppies to aid the install of SATA drives.

Try the search feature of the forum. This question is one of the more popular ones.
