If you have XP as indicated in your specs, you will need to install SATA drivers for XP to recognize your SATA drives. Also, depending on your motherboard, you may also need to set a few things in your BIOS before they are recognized.

Please also clarify that the 'old' SATA drive was not from that particular machine originally. This appears to be the case since you have two other non-SATA drives (PATA/IDE drives) that are working. Please clearly state the source of these drives, what they were used as before (except the new ones), and what the intended purpose for them is (multiple boot drives or one boot drive and the others for storage, etc.)

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Boot into the BIOS screens and verify all SATA controllers are enabled. With all drives connected look in Windows Disk Management to see if the new SATA drive shows there. If so, you need to partition and format it before it will show in My Computer. You can partition and format right in Disk Management.

Post your computer or motherboard model for better help.

You may have connected to a port that can be configured a RAID. Connecting an additional hard drive in a system can cause future boot problems.

I would never buy a hard drive from ebay unless it was a legacy drive that I couldn't find elsewhere.

Where are you looking for it. You need to look in Disk Management, not computer.

It does appear that it might be a bad drive. Does it show up in BIOS set up? If it does not, try a different SATA cable and different power connector. If it still does not show in BIOS, return it as defective and purchase one from a reputable source like NewEgg, TigerDirect, or a local computer store.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
