I have a sata DVD installed and while it works fine in windows it's not recognised as a boot device in bios.
Which means I cannot boot from my xp disc and reinstall windows!!
Does anyone know if there is a bios that 'fixes' this or a work around?

Might be able to select ide for sata access in bios.
Might be marked as wrong type, scsi might be the choice.
See OEM for bios update. It should say exactly as you state.
Try post screen selection for boot device.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Did it ever work in the POST screens? I think there were issues with nForce chipsets and SATA optical drives. I have an nForce 4 chipset board that I can't get a SATA DVD burner to boot while it is connected. Tried two different brands too.

I also have a nforce4 board that has a DVD sata drive and it boots no problem.
I can get to a reinstall by doing it through the OS boot not by DVD booting.
I'll keep checking.

Ok,it shows and boots now when I use 'sata' as the option in Bios,it didn't before.
This may have been caused by the memtest failure I have now just found out about.I'll make another thread about that in the OC department:-
