i have a couple of barricuda 500gig satas connected directly to my motherboards two sata ports.
i have my os installed on a 40gig seagate..and all my programs installed onto a 120gig barricuda. the other day i had to reinstall my os and now i cant see the full capacitiy of my 500gig drive. Its only showing 127gig. I remember seeing this before but I dont remember how to fix it. I deleted and repartitioned the drive, but that doesnt do it.
The drive is showing up in disk manager,,but something is not happening..

Are you using Win XP and if so do you have SP2 installed? SP 1 or 2 should get you past the 127 GB limit.

Response #1 is correct. IF you are not using the 500GB as a boot device then installing SP2 should allow WinXP to configure the entire drive size. This is assumming the BIOS IS properly identifying the drive by model and capacity.

To avoid this issue in the future you can integrate SP2 and post SP2 updates into your original WinXP CD. This process is called slipstreaming. If you are interested in doing this, then I suggest you start a new thread in the WinXP forum mentioning slipstreaming for suggestions. There are many sites and several programs available to do this. If you continue to use WinXP evendually you will need to install WinXP to a drive larger than 127GB. It will be more difficult to slipstream at that time.
