SATA drive works in DVR but does not when in enclosure

March 31, 2012 at 11:21:38
Specs: Windows 7
My problem is I have an external hard drive enclosure with a 250GB SATA drive installed, the unit has a ESATA port where I connect it to a DVR with a ESATA to SATA cable but the DVR does not see it although when I remove it from the unit and connect it directly to the DVR, it works fine. Is there a difference with the connectors, cable or circuits in the unit. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ken

DVR's do not use the same formatting as a computer. The external enclosure probably has a controller that can't read the drive.

Thanks I guess I will just have to remove the drive from the DVR and then play it back on the computer with a sata to usb convertor like I have been doing.
Thanks Ken
